What supplies do I need to bring to the Pinery Retreat?

We want to make vacationing as easy as possible so we provide as many everyday household items as we can. So before you start packing your house for vacation, take a look at our amenities to see what is included with your rental by clicking here.

Oh, and if you have any suggestions on additional items we should include, please tell us so we can consider adding it!

Why is there a cleaning fee if I have to do basic tasks on checkout?

At Pinery Retreat, ensuring your comfort and safety is our top priority. We take pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable space for our guests. To achieve this, we charge a cleaning fee, allowing us to bring in professional cleaners for thorough and detailed cleaning between stays. This includes sanitizing every surface, from floors to countertops and beyond.

While our whole house rentals offer unique amenities, they come with increased cleaning demands compared to hotel room rentals.  This is a large house and takes time to clean the whole place to our standards - To help offset these costs, we kindly request guests to perform a few checkout tasks. This small effort on your part significantly contributes to keeping our fees reasonable for all guests, even for shorter stays. Without this combination of guest cooperation and the cleaning fee, we would need to raise our nightly rates, and we aim to keep our house accessible to as many people as possible. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

Is firewood provided?

We attempt to keep the firewood and fire starters as a courtesy to our guests. However, they are not a term of the rental. If any of these items are out of stock at the Pinery Retreat they can generally be found just minutes away up the road or in general stores - There is firewood approximately a KM each way from the house. Feel free to ask us about the availability of firewood at the house when you are booking with us

Is parking included?

The parking lot behind the house accommodates 3 cars, which should be sufficient for the capacity of the house but additional cars can fit - Just please pay attention to our Well that is in the Parking lot area - Large stones are placed around it to Indicate its location.

  • Parking on the road is not permitted at any time.
  • Don’t park in the driveway
  • Don’t use the neighbor's driveways.

Is there wildlife around the Pinery Retreat?

Because we are in the country and close to nature, we have daily residents such as squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, ants, garden snakes, mice, and occasional deer. There is nothing to worry about as they are all harmless.

We implement some measures to keep animals away, but we cannot prevent nature from doing its thing - We are on their turf!

Here are some tips to prevent uninvited guests from joining your vacation:
• Spring & Summer are ant season. Nothing should be kept outside the refrigerator to prevent ants from eating your food.
• Fall is when our nature, our local residents, such as squirrels, raccoons, and mice, can be a bit more active getting ready for winter.
• Keep exterior doors closed as much as possible, especially the screen doors to the patio.
• Make sure that food is put away, and never leave any food outside.
• Don’t leave any trash outside the Garbage bins in the driveway. Ensure the lid on the outside trash containers are closed and latched after putting your bags in them.
